This book describes the relationship between the archetypes of Western psychology and the chakras of Eastern philosophy. Archetypes can be understood as the models of our personal wholeness, the metaphor for the strength of our vital energy, and reflections of our psychological patterning of self-care and worthiness. Chakras are the seven main centers of the human energy system, aligned up the spine from the base to the crown of the head. Each relates not only to the health energy of the physical body but to specific emotional issues. Working with the chakras helps us to understand where our energies are blocked, while working with the archetypes shows us which attitudes or emotional issues we need to examine in order to progress. Wauters explores each of the seven chakras, explicating its function, articulating the corresponding dysfunctional and functional archetypes, and illuminating the pathways to transformation through meditations, breath and energetic practices, and empowerment exercises. Case studies further enrich the information presented.
